Bong hits for bike cops?

Another bicycle vs. partrol car advantage = sense of smell (rather than being trapped inside with stale donuts )

John Constantine

STOW - Police charged a couple with trafficking and cultivating marijuana after officers on bicycle patrol detected the pungent aroma of a cannabis crop emanating from a house.
The couple, who were on vacation in the Bahamas when police first located the marijuana in July in a secret room in the basement of the house, turned themselves in after returning to Ohio on Friday.

John Constantine, 33 and his wife, Christine, 30, were released on bonds of $75,000 and $50,000 respectively after they were arraigned in Cuyahoga Falls Municipal Court on Friday.

Christine ConstantineStow police said two officers on bikes smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the Constantine's home on Elizabeth Drive on July 29.
The odors were coming from a dryer vent and officers noted that the house had surveillance cameras mounted on the roof.

They obtained a search warrant and found a hidden room with a disguised door. Inside they located more than 100 marijuana plants officials valued at $75,000 and special lighting fixtures, fertilizer and carbon dioxide tanks.

Police also seized 11 vials of steroids and syringes and a loaded gun and ammunition.

The basement's rear exit was sealed with plywood.

Don't run red lights, wear a helmet, use hand signals, get some cycle lights(front and rear) and, FFS, don't run red lights!

Totally agree, smells can be the best parts of riding!! I wonder if people realize how much "smell" they can generate on day to day activities, and how much it tells about what they are doing....

On rides I have been able to smell....
1. What people are cooking for dinner (One house down the block makes some killer Fried Chicken, I think).
2. Perfume/cologne bystanders are using.
3. A new batch of donuts just came out of the fryer at the local Tim Horton's.
4. Cagers are having a cig.
5. Which of the local hot rodders are spiking thier fuel.
and yes ....
6. The house with the stoners hitting the bong.

I do bike patrol, and I find the wide-open sensory input to be invaluable. I've heard more "activity" going on while riding than I ever do in the patrol car.

The smell of fresh-cut grass, and the smell of someone's barbecue. Both of these are fairly pleasant.

Then the smell of diesel exhaust (part of my ride is along a major road that sometimes gets all jammed up with traffic). That one sucks.

Yee-ha!
Keep busting those stoners! It's the very best use of public funds, as they are the most direct threat to safety, prosperity, and national security that exists. I mean, haven't you seen Reefer Madness?
Heckuva job!
I'm so glad that most states will punish a guy or gal smoking pot more severely than that righteously angry patriot who got a little tired of his wife's yapping and pasted her one on the chops.
If she'd only shut up when the game is on.
