    Good bike choice?

I have been looking for a decent bike without breaking the bank. I was shopping with a budget of around $500 or so, and wanted to get a hybrid/road type bike. Now I know that wouldn't get me a decent all-out road bike after seeing some of the price tags, but I still wanted something decent. After shopping around at a number of LBS, I finally settled on a bike that I am happy with.

I picked up a Fuji Absolute 2005 model. I had been looking at the 2008 Absolute 3.0, but liked the feel of this one better. I picked it up for around $529. I was told it was a decent hybrid, almost road bike with a straight handlebar. Just curious if this was a wise buy, as I had been to about half a dozen or so stores before this. Here is a link to the bike in question:

Thanks for any info, as I am new to all of this, and trying to educate myself as I go...

I had an '04 model. Nice bike, fast and light. My one complaint was the fork. The straight blade alloy fork gave a rough ride and bothered my carpel tunnel. I think your's might have the same fork. I fixed mine with a carbon cross fork, but that's an expensive option. If you decide your's is too rough,I'd recommend swapping on some wider, lower psi tires. Otherwise,it was a nice bike.
