Specialized Sirrus $90 price DROP from '08 to '09

Was at the local bike shop today & noticed the Specialized Sirrus dropped from $590 in 2008 to $499 in 2009...the Sirrus Sport is now priced at $590 in 2009. The only main thing I noticed that was different was the 09 had a grip shift versus the normal shifter. I'm assuming this doesn't happen very often in the bike world, but what do you think..should i go for a regular Sirrus or a Sirrus Sport?

For the type of bikes they are, I didn't see any reason to spring for the Sport in '08. But there was more than a $90 difference where I was looking.

I don't see any '09 specs on Specialized's site. Do they both still use a Sora rear derailleur like in '08?

yeah, the price points changed in '09. the Sirrus sport is now the same price as the regular '08 Sirrus. The lady at the bike shop said the Sirrus Sport in '09 is equivalent to the regular Sirrus in '08, which makes sense b/c they are the same price.

the only think I'm not sure I like is the grip shift on the '09, but it does come in the color i want, White.

Specialized downgraded the base model Sirrus for 2009, and it looks like the Sirrus lineup shifted so that the 2009 Sport is now the equivalent of the 2008 base model Sirrus.

Specialized likes to move the names around. The Epic was once a road bike.
