Offline indefinitely as of Monday

Greetings all.

As many of you will be aware, I am presently looking for a new place to live for when my living arrangements change, having finished university. Yesterday it became apparent that all of this will be happening sooner than I anticipated. As a result, Monday morning (Australian time about 48 hrs from now) will be my last session on bikeforums indefinitely. After this, the only way to contact me will be via e-mail (and I don't know how often I will be able to check that).

I'm posting this now just in case there is anybody out there who doesn't already know my opinions on off-road bike paths, motoring primates, "waterproof" panniers, summer etc.

Chris,

I (and I think most BF members) will really miss your colorful opinions and comments.
No one can ever say that you aren't honest and forthright. :D

I hope you will be able to get settled soon and rejoin your online family.

In the meantime take care of yourself and keep riding.

Ron

You know, of course, that Pete and fubar will post twice as much so you will never be able to catch up.

I hope indefinitely, doesn't mean forever. You'll be missed.

Perhaps a message in a bottle thrown into the sea. How are the trade winds these days?

aerobat 01-04-02 05:08 PM

Sorry to see you go Chris, hurry back!

Hope you can get to ride in a smoke free environment soon, there was talk of sending over some of our water bombers to help out.

The keyword here is, "indefinitely." I am not going to panic.

I would panic if Chris said he was going to lay off the hills for a while. Then I would want to examine Chris's head. Now that would be very interesting, indeed! I wonder what we would find in there?

Probably just a few insanely steep mountain hills, swooping magpies, and partially-dressed females populating the beachfront.

Hey, come back, Chris!

Chris! Who's going to post the jokes in the Jokes Forum?!? Hurry back, I need my daily fix of good laughs soon!

Come on Chris - who are you kidding? Of course you will have a phone in your new pad. All it takes is a phone and an ISP and you will be back online pronto. Hey, you can even go to the library for internet access, and I bet the accounting firm where you work has internet access, also. Just don't get fired for being online too much!!

Chris,
In the States, if a student athlete at a university is graduating, but still has one year of eligibility for their sport, they usually go directly to graduate school at the same university to complete their final year of eligibility. You only have 2100 posts at BikeForums. I'd bet you've got at least a few hundred posts left in you.

Maybe it is too soon for you to grow up and face the world of work. Stay in the university! I graduated from university in 1995, and since then I have regretted my decision to graduate. I'm sure I could have flunked a few classes if I had really tried.

We all will miss your presence and your posts. I hope you find a way to get back to the forum in the immediate future.

ahuman 01-04-02 10:26 PM

hurry back ! good luck ! best of luck

I learn a lot from you and will miss you!

keep biking stay strong live long.

Good advice. Stay in school forever. Get your graduate degree, then your doctorate - maybe two doctorates.

Then, get a job in the university system (you won't be as employable in the real world with a doctorate and no work experience anyway).

Eventually, become a professor and retire young with hair on your head and fond memories inside your head.

Chris. Renew your public library card. Is it not free in Australia.? I keep in touch with friends from back east all the time w/o PC's through the public library. Here they give you a minimum of one hour a day. Can do more than a fair quota of posts in one hour. Just requires an email account as you know. All BF Members hope to hear from you soon.

Harry 01-05-02 12:32 AM

Really sorry to see you go so soon. You'll be sorely missed around here. Hurry up and get yourself a computer and get back here.

By the way you probably know that the difference between Australia and a yoghourt is that the latter has some culture.

LOL

Hope to see you again very soon

Hmmm... Here is an approach that had simply not occurred to me. Maybe I'll be back sooner than I'd expected. I'll check that one out on Monday (as well as that unit at the top of that hill in Coolangatta :D )

Buddy Hayden 01-05-02 01:47 AM

Geez Chris are you fair dinkum ?, hey just sweet talk the librarian sheeler and maybe you could get a bit more time "wink wink ,,say NO more, a nods as good as a wink to a blind bat ! say no more.. catchya later bloke .

cyclezealot 01-05-02 02:18 AM

Chris. You have lots of experience to contribute to this site. Great to hear there is a solution, until you have access to your own PC. Besides, libraries are places we all could spend additional time.
Once we have to leave academia, they help keep us connected to the world of knowledge. After the bike lanes, they are one of my favorite places. Just please keep me away from the telle, unless there is a good movie without commercials. The television can kill your mind and your physical well being. (Couch potato)And my library has a great section on cycling.

Buddy Hayden 01-05-02 02:45 AM

Hey Chris , I reckon we should get a online "barbie" happenin', grab a couple of slabs of VB, some chops and snags , invite everyone to get pissed and of course talk about bikes and bike riding and have ourselves a bloody good time....who's up for it ?
