I used to be a regular in the Miata forum, but I'm ridding myself of the Miata in a few months, so I can't see a reason to stay there.

Other than that, I'll stick with USENET:
alt.atheism
comp.unix.admin
comp.unix.solaris
comp.unix.advocacy
comp.os.linux.advocacy

And I lurk occasionally in the Scary Devil Monastery, but made the mistake of flaming a regular...this is a *big no-no*. So I'm just watching until I garner up the brains to make a better post next time.

I have coffee with John E at oldroads.com and at www.schwinn.com/heritage/collectorsforum, as well as one or two other vintage bike collecting sites.

I also pay a visit at Big Audio Dynamite's site to talk about a great band that has been dead for seven years. It's more fun than it sounds. www.bad.co.uk/discussions.

The only other one I participate in is the Tractor forums. I have a small farm and have a Ford 3000 tractor which I did a lot of work on when I first bought it.

My Tractor

Uh Oh! It has an engine in it. I'll probably never hear the end of this!

Perhaps Ron has summed up this question rather neatly.

Let me explain this as simply as possible: there are no other forums. We are the only ones in cyberspace. Anyone who believes in other forums is deluded and sick.

It's not the tractor you won't hear the end of...it's WHATEVER you use to pull that travel trailer that you will catch Hell about! LOL

I bet it's a deisel isn't it? (Don't worry I have an F250 4X4 myself)

I frequently visit:

www.roadbikereview.com/message

www.bicycling.com

www.cyclingforums.com

Cyclingforums is a great place even if traffic is very low. Whenever something is being talked about, most of the posts are a great, informative read.

The bikeqld mailing list - Bicycle Queensland is the local advocacy club of which I am a member.
The philosophybike@topica.com mailing list which I created and 'administer' (and which is VERY quiet)
Occasionally dip into usenet, but I used to be very active there - aus.bicycle, rec.bicycles.misc, alt.rec.bicycles.recumbent
and The Jedi Council forum at theforce.net. (infrequent poster under the psuedonym Yada-Yada)

I need to get out more.

Bike Forums (shouldn't that be 'Fora'?) is my favourite.

I used to participate in the Journals (=diary/journal writing) forum at about.com; became inactive for a while, went back and it had mysteriously COMPLETELY DISAPPEARED! It was very active, too.

So I wrote to about.com and got no response. Wrote again, pointing out that it was my second attempt to find out what happened, and finally got the answer that they had removed that topic from their live service, might restore it some day. Hmm.

You got to watch those diary writers. A pretty threatening bunch.

BTW, if anybody here knows what happened to that forum, I'd be grateful to learn. Email me! I know at least one other Bike Forums person did occasionally drop in to the Journals forum.

I wish I'd saved the email addresses of all the members I used to enjoy interchanges with. Now I have no way to contact any of them, and they're probably feeling the same way.

Other than that one, now gone, it's just Bike Forums at present. I have dipped into others though, enough to know that this one is head and shoulders above the rest in terms of ease of use! At least the ones I've been to.

And of course has the nicest members, even if their cleats do tend to scratch up wooden floors.

I regularly lurk on other cycling forums, but none of them have the appeal of bikeforums so I haven't joined any others, I still occasionally write reviews on epinions but thats about it.

Used to on a motorbike forum, but it degenerated to the stage where a few members took it upon themselves to slag off any opinion not in accord with their own so gave up on that.

Occasionally use www.jeepin.com
