    Pain on my right side..

    Today I went on a pretty long ride. The longest/furthest ride I've ever been on, with a pretty burly climb.

    During the middle of the ride, I started to notice pain on my whole leg, but only on the right side. My leg, and also my right butt cheek. My right side is still pretty sore right now, but my left side feels fine, just like it should after a ride.

    Anyone know what's going on? Is it some fit issues? Technique issues?

    Sciatica maybe? You may have pinched the sciatic nerve?

    for a while I was having issues with right leg getting aches.

    Do you always have one leg forward or one leg down consistently when coasting? or hopping over obstacles?
    I noticed soreness was less uneven if I made a conscious effort to alternate legs.

    Ultimately went away when I put a toe clip on *both* pedals (I had been only using a left one because I only used them for stopping/starting).

    Stand up more to pedal and coast. Increases Blood Circulation in your back and legs.
    How would I know. 456 miles on five rides last week, 3 of the rides were 100 miles.

    Hopefully, this pain is temporary from just overdoing things. But, I'd go see an orthopedic doc
    as it may be the start of some disc degeneration or disc hierniation. The pain is possibly sciatica
    rerlated; an inflammation of your disc in lumbar area - possibly near vertebra at L4, L5, S1
    area. I've had similar pain. As Pcad can atest to, NSAIDS (ibuprofen, Alieve, etc.) can help; but,
    see a doctor. sometimes they prescribe oral steriodal and muscle relaxor meds.

    Sometimes with proper excercise, stretching, and rest of your back/legs, this can be controlled.

    Depending on the state of your disc(s) (i.e. hierenated but not fullly ruptured), sometimes a series of up to 3 cortizone epidural shots (1 every 2 weeks) can help. These shots are in lieu of the
    oral steriodal meds can cconcentrate on going directly to the source of inflmmation. Can be expensive though an usually require x-rays and/or an MRI prior to shot; thus more money to lay out.

    Ya need to go see a real doctor rather than a bunch of internet opinions. Heck, I'm a computer guy, I'm not qualified to give medical advice to a rock.

    Sciatica . A chiro can help, usually. Stay off the bike , lifting, etc., etc, for awhile.
