Department Store bike Recall

Get a load of this.

Pacific is recalling 14,000 Mongoose mountain bikes because the frames split in two! In my opinion, ALL their bikes need to be recalled and assembled properly not just the ones that crack in half! Well.. I guess you get what you pay for when it's only $99.00 dollars.

The name mongoose used to be associated with quality ATB frames in the 80's, early 90's.. Sad... so sad... :(

What is also sad is that I have sold hundreds of GT bikes in the past. Now the GT name is in chain stores and only a few shops in Houston. They used to be everywhere, like Trek, Giant , and Specialized.

I've got a 1985 Mongoose 26" ATB. Fantastic bike!

I also hope schwinn quality will not go down to the dept store level.. They still make fairly good frames, but not as good as they used to make them. Its a shame, with schwinn's history, it would all come to this... Its not only sad, its a shame.. :( :(

Thats funny, because I saw a brand new one of those things laying, abandoned next to a drop, rear shock COMPLETLY ripped through it's mount, leaving it swaying in the breeze. I bet the uninformed consumer thought his bike was more capable than it is.
