Custom duties on orders from UK shop?
Hi,
I am about to place an order of bike parts for about $1000 from SJS (a UK company). Am I gonna be hit by some custom duties on the US side of things.
I have made some small orders from PBK before and there was no duties.
Any experiences advice with that kind of stuff?
Greg

It's a crap shoot. The higher declared value ups the odds, however. As Norman pointed out, it's a matter between you and customs and no one else has any input or control over the matter. Postal shipping seems less susceptible to getting hit for the duty.

I purchased a Windcheetah trike from the UK and I had to pay a duty. IIRC, FedEx paid the duty and I had to pay them. I have since bought some small parts from the manufacturer that didn't amount to more than a few hundred dollars and didn't pay any duty.
