Looking for Merino Wool Base Layers
I've been checking the internets in search of deals on lightweight, short-sleeved, Merino Wool base layers. I have a couple that I bought on sale at REI quite some time ago, but I wear them so much that they are finally starting to wear out. I wear them both on and off the bike, and since they don't need to be laundered anywhere near as frequently as cotton T-shirts, they've saved me a bundle on water and detergent.
Any tips on where I might find some good ones at a decent price? The company would have to be willing to ship to Europe.

Thanks, Machka, but the Decathlon stores here in Spain don't carry any of the Merino wool garments, and MEC charges a minimum $50.00 shipping fee. A little steep for a couple of T-shirts, methinks! I'll keep looking.

Do you have GO Sport stores in Spain? I know they are in France, and sell similar things as Decathlon stores.

Try a discount clothing store. We have TJ Maxx or Marshall's here. I bought two 100% Merino wool sweaters that are a bit heavier than the 265g baselayered ones. They must be hand washed but at $15 each it was much cheaper than the 150g Smartwool baselayer I bought my girlfriend for Christmas ($60). Just wear a light baselayer under the wool sweater so you don't have to wash it each time.

I've found some nice garments here: https://www.backcountrygear.com/apparel/Base_Layer.cfm
Thanks to all of you for the help.

The thin nature of synthetics work quite well.. Are not the Wool base layers, quite scratchy. I'll be going into a Decathlon and Veloland in the next couple days. I'll see if they are in the south of France...

Merino wool is very soft ... a lovely fabric. And there should be Decathlons in the south of France. Use the store locator to look them up.
