In hospital for all of next week.. no biking...
Its just becoming that time of year when its beautiful perfect biking weather everyday... and I have to go into the hospital for a week for EEGs.
>=(
Last time I was in the hospital for a simliar test I started to loose it after day three and tried to explain to my stone-faced overpaid doctor how I needed to move. She offered to bring up a stationary bike, I don't think she relized (sp?) I meant covering miles, not spinning my legs =\
I really don't want to go back...

Sorry to hear that. I hope everything turns out ok.
Asked the doc for an Internet connection. So you can hang out at Bikeforums.

Hang in there! It's gonna suck, there's no question about it, but apparently this has to be done. Get it done, and over with now. You'll have the rest of the year to ride. Good luck!
PS: If it makes you feel any better, I have a broken tibia, and haven't ridden in 2 weeks. It will be @ least another 4 before I can even try.

A WEEK of EEG tests???
Could you explain a bit more.
What do they learn in a week of tests that they can not learn in one test?
Interested. My son has had EEG tests, but it was always just one test while "sleeping."
Sorry you will miss out on biking.

They're looking for seizures or similiar brain activity. Actually what they're looking for is slightly smaller than a seizure. Its actually not uncommon for people to stay for week long EEGs. It allows the doctors to have a good chance of capturing an episode.

I feel for you. After having not ridden for the last week due to being on a business trip to India, I just returned and discovered I managed to contract cellulitis on both my feet and legs. I'm on heavy antibiotics. They almost had to wheelchair me off the plane and I headed straight to the ER from the airport where they administered an IV drip of antibiotics. It'll be another week before I can return to riding.

At least EEGS aren't painful, to my knowledge, once the week is up you'll probably be able to get right back to normal. A friend of mine had to walk around with electrodes on his head for a week for the same reason, they were testing for seizures. It sounds like something from Frankenstein!
However, I sympathize because I had to spend a few days in the hospital this winter after surgery, and I know hospitals really suck. Fortunately, it was early march and by the time I recovered, i hadn't missed any nice weather. BUt then I developed a post op infection and had to be on antibiotics for a week. At least EEGS don't involve any cutting. BUt do they have to shave your head?
