Giro Pneumo & Roc Loc 4
In February, my team is getting a great deal on the Giro Pneumo helmets. This model has the "Roc Loc 4". Does anyone have this helmet that could comment on it? But more importantly, does anyone know if it actually is ponytail friendly like Giro claims?
Thanks,
velo

I've got a Pneumo with the Roc Loc 3 (2001 model) and it's the best thing since sliced bread.
I can't comment on the Roc Loc 4 model, but I don't think it could've changed that much.
Two questions:
1. Is the team getting the new carrying case that Giro is offering? They are real nice.
2. We may need a picture of this ponytail for further study.

The Idea behind the Pneumo was "lets get some air and design a helmet around it !" lol , I have a 2001 Havoc , and It is simply the nicest , most comfortable lid I have ever had the pleasure of owning !! all the best, for your upcoming deal on the Giro's I guarantee you will be happy !

Velo,
I have a new one, also, and love it like everyone else. The rear part of the Roc Loc suspension comes down below the curve of the back of the scull, leaving an opening that should nicely accomodate a ponytail. Sadly, having enough hair for that to be a concern is not one of my problems.
Regards,
Raymond

I've got last year's model, with the Roc Loc 3, and I love it. The fit is perfect, and the Roc Loc is so snug, it would stay on even without the chin strap. I've never used the visor, but I suppose it's a nice option all the same - just not really my thing.
I can't comment personally on the ponytail issue Years ago, before I started riding, I had an ungodly hideous 'hockey-player' haircut and have vowed to wear my hair short from now on. I looked a lot like Ronald McDonald, but in my defense, I was playing hockey at the time...
I have a female friend who agrees that the helmet is the best think since peanut butter. She thinks that the Roc Loc 3 works just fine with a ponytail. The 4 seems like it would work even better, since it has vertical adjustability (according to the web site, anyway).

I love mine! And I agree with Buddy, Giro designed the Pnemo with max air in mind... Gee, I'm gonna have to change my tagline?!

Yahoo! I just ordered my brand spankin' new Giro Pneumo in Rabobank (and my team's!) colors. The helmet actually does come with the pod for storage and/or travel, so it's definitely a sweet deal. Can't wait until they come in!

I've worn my new one with Roc lock 4 twice and love it. It's light, lets an incredible amount of air in and looks cool! Matches new bike too!

Yup! I've had the chance to wear my Giro, too (I posted this somewhere else...). I love it! And, it matches my team's uniforms.

I think any helmet that costs as much as the Pneumo is a waste of money. Buying a helmet like that is just a way of saying, "look at me!". It is just vanity and selfishness.

Sounds like a nice peice of equipment... but with all that air ability, won't that give the flying specs more space to buzz around in.?

Velo -
Would you mind saying how much your Rabo version cost? I am thinking about the ONCE version myself, and see that ebay has them at around half of retail occasionally.
Cheers...Gary

Fubar - Maybe yes, maybe no. But, let me tell you that I haven't bought a helmet for years because I've received them from my team on a pretty regular bases. So, all that money I saved up from not buying one was well spent on the Giro.
Fubar & Gmason - $105. Team discount from the LBS.
