Hey- I caught a Bird with my teeth!

I almost put this under strange rides. I just returned from an afternoon ride, got caught in a shower, riding along when a bird (starling) flew out of a tree and slamed into my face. I breathe through my mouth and when I shut it, I realized I had hold of his wing with my teeth. I quickly spit him out, rinsed my mouth with what was left of my water, and rinsded again when I got home. PHOOEY! Gosh them things taste awful!!!! I did pickup a feather for a reminder.

That's possibly the strangest thing ever! Except maybe when some AAA pitcher hit a bird with a fastball during a game a few years ago (good ol' You Gotta See This, I miss that show).

You're never going to lose weight if you keep eating while you're riding!

That was actually Randy Johnson in a major league game. I'm curious too, did the starling survive?

As best I know, starlings have never been well known for tasting good. Particularly when on the wing.

Yep, bird flew off after hitting the road. Guess I was lucky I didn't get any bird droppings between my teeth. Course it Might have added to the taste.

At least you weren't .....ummmmm.......eating crow.

I hit an antlered buck once. But I didn't spit him out. Front end didn't survive either.

- all kinds of beasties on our rides every day:

armadillo scurrying across the road last fall...
possum crossing last week...
black racers nearly every day after noon...
coiled diamondbacks resting in the sun in middle of path...
corn snakes coiled in the sun...
squirrels all the time (sometimes they run alongside for 20 feet or so, or hold conventions in mid-path)
lizards (faster, and seem smarter than the squirrels)
almost taken out by a flying peacock last week
raccoons junking up the rest stop (rooting for leftover raisin boxes)
alligators cruising impoundment edges (only when i happen to stop for a quick cast or two!)
almost ran over a coral snake... or was it a king? perhaps i should remember:

'If red touches yellow, it can kill a fellow' (coral snake)
'If red touches black, it is a friend of Jack' (scarlet kingsnake or scarlet snake)

If you're trying to lose weight, you're supposed to eat like a bird.

Actually, a guy in my neighborhood was jogging, and a bat flew into his mouth. He had to get rabies shots. He also decided to name his next two children Jack and Kelly.

Reminds me of the time a seagull at the san francisco zoo took an onion ring out of my closed mouth after I began chewing. Its a crying shame they can't be hunted.

No it doesn't, squirrels can be eaten. Birds that manage to fly away can't.

Aren't squirrels members of the rat family?
