Someone tell me this Bridgestone bike is overpriced!
to make me feel better because I got outbidded
(economics theory of 'its worth whatever people are willing to pay' notwithstanding)

Ok, but honestly, its not worth it just for the frame, right?
I needed a frame to build a fixie.. its a bridgestone, its in great condition, its got a cool paintjob, and what looks like great geometry (aggresive, short wheelbase)...its plain 4030 cromo..
I did some research, and found out there was a 200-series that was way more relaxed, and a 600 with similar looking geometry. Apparently the 600 was an entry level road bike and retailed 370$.... so this 500 is no more than a Trek 1000 of today.
anyways, im just a bit buggered.... would you have paid 250$ (shipped) for that bike?

maybe the buyer lives nearby and can save the shipping costs? I don´t know what the bike would have cost new but 250 would seem like the top end and it would definitely not be worth it just to get the frame.
The bike is nearly 20 years old now so maybe it is becoming a classic.
there was another thread on Bikeforums commenting though on the high prices being paid on ebay, There do seem to be a lot of people who get carried away with the excitement of the auction. I have seen people paying more for used than the new retail price. It is best to be patient. I was bidding on a Scuzzy logic headset a few weeks ago. The first one I put a bid in went for more than the normal online shop price. I gave up and waited for the next. That one went for HALF what the first one went for and I got a reasonable deal (I was glad I didnt outbid for the first).
If you just want a frame it might be a good idea to try an just bid for a frame on its own (they are not usually so expensive) or look for a bike that is broken (not on the frame of course)-this might put most bidders off from bidding
good luck
