Bikes: I currently own a Giant Brass 1 dirt jumping bike. I love it. I bought it December 1st, 2008.

A new sub-forum for Bike Forums
I have been meaning to put this up here for a while now, but just never remembered to:
We should have a separate Sub Forum (at the top of all sub-forums maybe???) where you enter your bike's info, just in case it is stolen. Or, we could even have a Sub Forum where it is only for stolen bikes:
So lets say your bike is stolen. You come here to Bike Forums and start a thread with the model and color of your bike that was stolen. Inside of the thread, you would describe the stolen bike as best as you could (include the serial number if possible); state where it was stolen from (as in city, state, zip code), where you last saw it, and approximately when it was stolen; and then include a form of contacting you in case it is spotted. Whoever reads the posts will be aware of what to look out for.
You would probably get your bike back faster this way, rather than just having the cops search for it.
So what do you guys/gals think of my idea?

I don't think it would work.
I doubt anyone is going to be willing to actively hunt for your bike, nor will they wish to confront a stranger and make the claim, 'hey that bike belongs to someone I met on the internet, hand it over'
And even if someone finds your bike, as they aren't an owner I doubt they can even go ask cops to help out; cops barely help out even if the person reporting Is the owner.
