Recycled Bicycle Tires

I'm curious if anyone knows of bicycle tire companies that produces their tires from recycled materials?

The microwave recycling technology today allows old tires to be broken down to their original parts to be put back together again into a brand new tire.

any thoughts?

Thanks,
Tim

Specialized recycles tires into shop mats.

I don't know of any bicycle manufacturer utilizing recycled materials in the production of tires.

In their defense, this application is probably more practical for automobile tires. There is very little material in a bicycle tire, and using recycled materials would have very little impact...if even possible.

Its very possible. with microwave technology. It breaks tire rubber down to its original components. These original components are then made into new tires. The quality is exactly the same.

Sure a bike tire is small, but lots of things that are small are made from recycled materials. If you go into a bike shop and look at all the tires, it is significant. Lots of little things add up to a lot. Take plastic water bottles for an example. Tires and tubes are parts on a bike that are constantly replaced, and its about time someone came out with a tire made from recycled material.
