Yelled at like a child when tube blew out.
My inner tube blew out quite loudly on the way back from getting a spoke fixed at the bike shop. Also, I got yelled at by a guy when it happened, "Not in my neighborhood you little s---!" Wow... what? I own a house and my second child will be here any day.
Any ideas what he thought I was doing?

No I froze... I'm very non confrontational. I picked up the front of the bike and dragged it away.

Don't you think this is a generalization? I find it odd that you're basically making a racist statement in an effort to infer that rednecks are racist. I'm pretty sure the guy thought you had set off fireworks or something. That said, I would have had to respond politely to him to let him know all that happened was that you blew a tire.

I'm imagining him thinking you set off a dry-ice soda bottle bomb. Ka-Booom!

That would be my guess, too.
Oh, and if we keep going down the racist road, I might have to close this thread. Just sayin'...

I had a tire blow while riding past a police officer who had a car pulled over. The officer ducked. I think someone just about s**t his pants.

Yeah, just yell that you blew a tire.
If Im not mistaken you sound like you own a house in that neighborhood, so you know him anyway right?
If I read it wrong, all the same, just yell out you blew a tire. He would see that you are what you are and forget about it.
No need to take it seriously
