Bike Weekend Rental Suggestions: Trek 7.3FX or 7100 Navigator

Hello all, I'm spending the Memorial weekend in DC, and I came across this page:

http://www.bikeandroll.com/washingto...kerentals.html

I'm just recently back on the cycling scene after a decade hiatus, so I'm not completely up to speed on all the ins and out of the different bike types. I have a 2009 Specialized Crosstrail Elite that I've been riding for about a month. During my purchasing process, I rode the Trek 7.3 - 7.6, so I pretty much know what to expect there. But I have zero experience in the Navigator 7100, or any "comfort" model for that matter.

So here's my question. $35 for the 7100 or blow $60 on the 7.3? I'm 27, and I read somewhere that comfort bikes are for old people... (I'm kidding. :p)

Thanks in advance! Oh, also if anyone has done this "bike rental" thing and advises against it, let me know on that too. I just thought it'd be a fun way to spend the day without riding public transportation.

Depends on what you're trying to accomplish. If you're trying to zip around town, get the FX. If you want upright, slow cruise and see the sights, get the Navigator.

Both bikes will be enjoyable. Go with the cheapest one. Make sure it is your size and that the seat post is at the correct height. Have the shop check the tire pressure. And have fun!

I think that their prices are a little high but maybe the market in DC allows it. The last time I rented a bike it was in Raliegh NC. Before my trip I googled all of the bike shops and then called them. I got a nice Trek 1500 road bike for $35 for 24 hours. I picked it up in the afternoon and road it until dark and then road it again the next day. That was probably 2 yeas ago but I wouldn't think prices have doubled since then.
