Better to use a normal set of headphones, in my opinion. The Sennheisers I mentioned work really well.
Most people get used to it just fine.

I ride with an earbud in my right ear, leaving my left open to hear cars, other cyclists, etc..The other earbud I just tuck into my shirt. I use SkullCandy INK'D earbuds. They're small, light, and have different sized silicone buds to size to your ears. I think they are perfect for riding.
