First post - cycle touring philippines?

G'day All
Hoping someone out there has cycle toured the Phillipines lately. I've just purchased my Thorn Raven (to be picked up when i go to the UK in a few months) and am planning a tour of a few months in SE Asia in January and February. Living in Darwin, Northern Australia my choices are vast with numerous budget airlines operating in the area.
After recently having a short vacation in the Phillipines I am thinking it would be a good place to tour - my original plan was Vietnam which would be my fourth visit there - but i just found the Filippino people very hospitable and the fact that English is so widely spoken (with a great accent i may add) i'm leaning in this direction.
SO!!
Any hints, suggestions, links etc etc for helping my research would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers and beers
Richard

G'day Kakadude,

January and Feb will be leading up to the more warmer temps in the Phils.

Since you've been there, you know to stay out of the major cities! hehe

Perhaps riding from Manila to Tagatay, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas... just off the top of my head. These places are less crowded and more scenic.

It'd be a long ride to Bicol but up there are plenty of great views, rice fields, mountains (imagaine the climbs!), farm land... If I were to tour Phils on bike, I'd definately head up that way.

I'd be interested in your route, so please keep me uptodate via PM if you like..

I have no direct information, but you may get more responses if you ask in a forum where people that do cycle touring hang out... I would try the Touring forum. I know I have seen discussions of international touring there.

The appropriate regional forum may also give you a few insights too, but I don't know how much would be helpful from a touring perspective.
