triumph bicycle.
had no idea triumph made bicycles. saw this at an import car show this weekend. someone was selling it for $175. it had a brooks saddle
anyone ever seen one?

I used to have one - blue. They were spin-offs from Raleigh, along with Robin Hood bikes. 3spd Sturmey Archer rear hubs. I also had a Raleigh 3spd before this - the Raleigh having been stolen - and I didn't notice much difference. In fact, I liked the blue Triumph better. It was a fine bicycle!
I hope you got a number for this seller - I'd snap it up in a minute. Strange I never hear about them anymore. It's like the knowledge of there existence evaporated. Please do post more information if you find any - under some rock on Mars.

My second bike was a Triumph-But that was 55 years ago. Can't tell you anything about them as I can't remember anything about it except it has gone the way of many UK manufacturers and just disappeared.

Apparently Triumph bicycles was part of Triumph Motorcycles and got rolled up by Raleigh around 1954 and became a second tier brand. I have always liked the colors of the Raleigh second tier bikes.

sorry i can't hook anyone up with sellers info. most of the vendors here weren't the type that usually sold by mail. most of them only sold at this one event.
but it's good to hear that some people have had them! perhaps i will be trying to snatch one if i see another! not to ride (i hate brooks saddles), but just for the name! big on triumphs.

Like many British motorcycle and car manufacturers (Rudge, James and Riley spring to mind) they started out making bicycles.
