Any suggestion? They're about the same price...which is the better buy?

kasman,

This is a very opinionated subject. Sort of like asking which is better, Fords, GM or Chrysler. Ask 5 people, you'll likely get 5 different answers.

I had a Cannondale R900 that I rode a few thousand miles per year on for about 4 years. There were a lot of things to like about it. I fit me great, handled superbly and looked terrific. Natch, it was light weight & cost less than other permium mounts. There were 2 things I didn't like about it. It was too stiff (yes, there is such a thing.) On anything but perfect pavement, it beat the hell out of me. I put a Carbon Fiber fork on it, padded the bars heavily, but it wasn't good enough. The other thing I didn't like was that it felt "dead." When slowing for a traffic light to maybe between 5-10 mph, then getting out of the saddle to sprint back up to speed, felt like it took an inordinate amount of effort. Any ride with lots of decceleration & acceleration, really wore me out.
The'Dale was the first & only non-steel bike I've owned. I eventually bought a DeRosa Nuovo Classico, & I didn't touch the 'Dale again for a full year & ended up selling it.
Sorry I can''t comment about the Raleigh--I know nothing about it. Hope this helps.
