Bike Rack

I recently bought a bike car for a Kia Sorento. The bike rack is tied to the trunk of the suv but the top feet of the rack goes on the glass. This is an image of a similar rack style will it damage the glass? http://www.cyclesuperstore.ie/shop/p.../medium/f9.jpg Will this damage the glass?

No. But don't use the rear wiper.

I have a friend with a Subaru Outback. Her rack is mounted this way. She burned-out the wiper motor after hitting the switch out of habit. After that expensive lesson, she removes the fuse when she mounts the rack.

You mean to watch the wiper from hitting the rack?

I had a rack like that on a minivan. I was able to unbolt everything from the bike holder secton, the big U shaped tube with the foam that sits on the window and flip it upside down so that the foam was sitting right about where the window meets the steel of the frame around it so the pressure was there rather than the center of the glass. But those kind of racks kind of suck anyway, your better off putting a simple hitch on to put a rack in.
