Help choosing new hybride bikes for me and my girlfriend!!

Hi all,

First i'm sorry if my english is poor... speak french!

I'm new here, i just discovered this forum while looking for review of bikes.

Me and my girlfriend want to get new bike (we haven't had any bikes for years)
we both want performance Hybride (i know many people will suggest road bike but we want to stick with hybride)

We have seen and rides many bike so far (road test).

For me my choise is between those 2 bikes :

TREK 7.5 FX (2009) 782$ Cad
GIANT FCR 2 (2009) 826$ Cad

I like both bike a lot... now which one shoud i get ?

For my girlfriend... she can spend a little less... here is her choice :

Giant FCR 3 (2009) 486$ Cad
Trek 7.2 (2009) 476$ Cad
Kona Dew (2009) 450$ Cad

As for the look she prefer the Kona Dew... but i think the others have better component.

Which one should she get ?

Thank you very much for any help!

She should get the one she likes the best and will want to ride more often. Same goes for you. But that price on a Trek 7.5 FX is less than I paid for a 2007 in May of 2008. That's the way I'd go. The 7.5 is a very fast and nimble hybrid. It was due to it's excellent frame that I bought one. And have completely customized her.

I would get a price on a 7.6 it has a carbon fork.

The FCR 1 also has a carbon fork and a 105 rear derailer.

I would price these two bikes since they have meaningful benefits.

I should tell you my wife just purchased the FCR 1 and loves it. The bike is much easier to ride than a basic large tire Hybrid.

Odd - my Trek 7.5 FX came with a carbon fork. Just as soon as it gives me one iota of reason to get rid of it - away it goes! I'll get steel instead. I try not to ride into/over potholes, so I have no reason to tempt fate in the name of a cushier ride.

My girlfriend just bought a Giant FCR 3...

For me i'm looking toward the TREK 7.5 but no decision taken yet.

As for the price... it do not include taxes (Prices without taxes)

For the 7.6 and FCR1... they are interesting but a bit too expensive for me... i have to buy extra accessories + a car hitch and a bike rack...
