My New Shoes

I just purchased a pair of Shimano SH-R098 Road Shoe I want to use it for spin classes. The bikes we use in class are spd. but the shoe says spd-sl does that mean I purchased the incorrect shoe? Please help. Thank you in advance.

If the shoe only has the three hole mount (in a triangle), and not the two side by side in slots, then yes you bought the wrong kind of shoes.

you can buy an adapter that will let you mount spd cleats to spd-sl shoes.
