Info on 2010 Trek FX

I'm wanting to buy a new Trek FX. I really like the FX 7.7 but CAN'T stand matte paint! Does anybody really know:
1. When will the 2010 FX 7.7 be available?
2. Will it have glossy paint?
I'm not going to be the happy biker if I have to buy a 2009 7.6 and then a few weeks later find that the 2010 7.7 is so much nicer a bike. I need to get this done before the Fall weather sets in and takes away most of my riding time.
Yes, I'm pretty much of a fair weather biker.

The 7.3FX through the 7.7FX have the same frames - or did. The forks are different with new gizmo's and bells, but I bought a 7.5FX last year. I should have bought the 7.3 though. My plan was to utterly customize it and did so. Keep this in mind if you are thinking some components should go. It could save you some coin for upper-tier components Trek doesn't offer.

I did what Panthers007 did. Got a 7.5 and overhauled it (different mods than Panthers I believe...mine is now a 10-speed road bike). Other than no "isozone monostay" on the frame it is superior bike in every way to the 7.7 at about the same cost (slightly less, actually). Once the project is complete I will post details.

Cheers,
Matt

ps. thanks to Panthers for his advice via PM several million times....

Treks entire line should be out after "Trek World" I think it's somewhere near august 16 or something like that.

Mods to Trek FX

I've thought about doing mods to a stock bike. What all did you do and how much did it run??

Mods to a FX

So you don't think the new "flex" frame is worthwhile?
I've been thinking the same way about the mods but haven't been able to determine what the cost would be. What components did you change and how much did it run??
Right now I'm riding a Jamis Coda Comp amd my wife has a Trek FX 7.5 and the Trek is a much better ride. I think the gearing on the Jamis is poorly done at both the chainwheels and the cassette. The only really good thing about the Jamis is that I had it "custom" painted in pearl orange and pearl white.
I know I'm going to take a big loss on the Jamis!!

Well, I'll be glad when "Trek World" is over so I can find out. Somebody said it would be a "couple of weeks"
If anybody hears anything before me please post it.

Would you agree we could use a Hybrid Forum here? Rather than posting all over the forum in hopes of not being insulted for riding one of these great bicycles? Here's a Cut & Paste to direct you to how you can help:
-----------------------------------------------

Hiya anyone with a Hybrid:

There is a battle going on to make Hybrids a breed of bicycle that is it's own variety. As is, posts about Hybrids are flung all over these forums. And they are also widely discriminated against. Want a Hybrid-specific forum to discuss these? Want to lend a hand & voice to help us solve this long-overdue change?

Please read and write:

Hybrid specific forum: If you've already posted, do come back and vote the poll

Well i've made my choice. I've purchased a 7.5 FX 2010. I'll upgrade the pedals, add bar-ends, a computer and a bottleholder. This is gonna be my first 'new' bike since I bought a BMX when I was 10. Can't wait untill next week when I get it.

Curious... the 7.5 is almost 300 bucks more than a 7.3... seems a pretty large jump. Most of the differences seems to be in the drive train components... but even so, are they THAT much batter? The differential is what, 45% of the cost of the 7.3???

Ah, yes, missed that (noOb), sorry.

My bike is actually is pretty decent shape, but I find some lust building for a 7.3. I'm torn as I think I can rent one... wouldn't be good if I somehow felt it was 1000% better. As you're probably better aware of differences, is the 2010 7.3 that much different from yours?

WARNING:

The Trek 7.2 FX is now made from their alpha-Black aluminum. But the 7.2 WSD FX is still made from their standard 'white' aluminum. This is wholly unfair to the women out there - and a few men as well, no doubt. And the price of both have risen together. Call Trek to protest.

For further info on Trek's proprietary aluminum grades:

The 7.2 WSD is still the black aluminum. Trek just made a mistake and listed it as the white aluminum....not the first time this has happened. If you look at the pic of the 7.2 WSD, you'll see the frame is still hydroformed and even shows the black aluminum decal on the chainstay.
