Calling all passionate bike owners!

Arizona State University
W.P. Carey School of Business
Department of Marketing

August 10, 2009

Dear Bike Forums Members,

I am a researcher in the Department of Marketing in the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. I am conducting a research study to better understand consumers and their possessions with a focus on bicycles.

I am inviting your participation in this research, which will involve approximately 15 minutes of your time. My questionnaire asks about your feelings, thoughts and behaviors with respect to your bicycle. You have the right not to answer any question, you can skip questions and you can stop the study any time. You must be 18 or older to participate.

Your participation in this study is voluntary. If you choose not to participate or withdraw from the study at any time, there will be no consequences to you.

We would truly appreciate your participation in this study. The results of the study may be published in an academic journal but your name will not be known. There are no foreseeable risks to your participation in this research as all responses will be anonymous.

You are not asked to provide your name on the questionnaire or provide any identifying information such as an email address. All of the results of this research will be based on all of the responses that we receive; your individual responses cannot be traced back to you.

If you have any questions about the study or your participation, please contact me via email (consumer_survey@asu.edu). If you have any questions about your rights as a subject/participant in this research, or if you feel you have been placed at risk by this research, you can contact Arizona State University's Human Subjects Institutional Review Board, through the Office of Research Integrity and Assurance, at (480) 965-6788.

To participate in this study, please just click the following link:

Sincerely,

ASUstudent

Email: consumer_survey@asu.edu

PS Thanks to forum administrators Tom and Brian for allowing me to post my survey link here. I'm always trying to connect with "real consumers" in the "real world" in my research instead of just asking other ASU students for their opinions. I sincerely appreciate your time and energy in participating in this study about bicycles and the many roles they play in our lives. Thanks for your consideration!

Couldn't fill it out as I like all of my bike equally and do not have a fovorite, I ride a different one depending on the type of ride and my mood, but all get ridden.

Hi Everyone,
Thanks to all of you who completed the survey so far, my faculty advisor and I sincerely appreciate your time and energy.

We're still collecting data for this project, so if you have considered taking part in the study but haven't taken the survey yet - you still have a chance. I hope you will consider joining our effort.

Cheers and happy cycling,
Jill
