Hybrid Specific Forum Still Needed.

Not something lumped into an already existing forum for General Discussion.

Closer, but still no cigar......

Tricycles need a forum. Not Trikes and General Cycling, a Trikes only forum or I'll hold my breath until I turn blue.

Not all. Some trikes look like they are based on cruiser bike frames with two rear wheels. There is at least one British source for two front wheel trikes which have upright frames which appear, from photos, to be closer to sports bike based frames. Also of course Worksman utility trikes are still available and I have seen photos of european racing trikes with two rear wheels that were equipped with racing bike parts and on which the riding position was standard drop bar racing. Trikes have been made in almost as many variations as bicycles.

Yes I have seen the ones you are talking about, Trikes and Recumbent s are are some of the coolest rides I have ever seen. All of your high speed trikes are recumbent technology. Most upright trikes are vintage or retro. I would love to acquire a nice low racer

Thanks for ditching that nauseating fuchsia script. And lets try to keep our activism in one thread - and start more hybrid-centric threads. New one is coming right up!

Nah. A hybrid forum wouldn't have enough activity to justify it's existance.

If you prefer we can easily take the word Hybrid off of the forum heading and let everyone post haphazardly all over the site again. But I'm not sure if the people who started Hybrid threads here would like that. *shrugs*

Thanks for understanding. We decided to try it this way for a while and see how it succeeds.

Maybe the forum should have a "Store Brand Bicycle" section. I think there are quite a bit of folks from observation that bought bikes from Walmarts, costco, Target etc... it's an entirely whole subculture. Bet there will be enough members to support that section to. Whadya think mods??

I like that this forum is closer to the top of the forum list since I spend so much time in here, I don't have to scroll down so far to get here. And since I have two hybrids, it works out great. 'Course, a hybrid specific forum would be nice, too.

Why not take advantage of the increased activity to the general cycling forum instead of acting like you have been some how violated.

It appears a handful of posters intend to flood this list with hybrid "activity" until the General Cycling topics can no longer be found or until they have their own list, whichever comes first.

It will be interesting to see how much activity will be found on that list after the hybrid aficionados get what they want.

My 2 Euro cents (currently 2,78 US cents):

both my bikes are hybrid, and in all my years in BF I've never felt the need for a dedicated Forum to be able to discuss my bikes or riding. For me cycling is a mode of transportation, not so much a hobby or serious training regime.

Yep, I've been using the same hybrid for 18 years now and have never felt the need for a "hybrid" forum.

I agree hybrids need their own forum. General cycling is what it is. Hybrids aren't general IMO.

Hybrids are used for commuting (we have that), for working (we have utility), for just cruising around (yep, there's the recreation forum), you can add all kinds of fun things to them (gadgets and electronics), you can learn how to upgrade them (mechanics), you can fix them to be different (alt bikes).

Hybrids fit into all kinds of areas. If you visit any of the above then you are sure to get SOME kind of infor that would be helpful.

If this really is a problem to have it lumped with general, then perhaps it would be better to just remove the name from the title and put things back the way they were and let people post their threads in the areas that pertain most to the topic such as listed above.

I really was hoping that people would be happy with this consideration and give it a chance. If it proves to be too big then it can always branch off on its own like bmx did from mtb back in the day. But rather it seems people are upset about it.

I don't think it's anger, hostility, or intolerance for the most part, certainly not on mine. Just a different POV.

No, it is anger and hostility.
A hybrid killed my brother.
I will not rest until they are wiped from the face of the earth.
