Recommended bike lock
Willing to spend up to $30-$40 on a good lock.
Neighborhood is low-crime, 'average' suburban-like neighborhood. Isn't ghetto.
I'm looking mainly at the Kryptonite Kryptolok Series 2. Anything higher, and I bet you could cut through the pole/rack faster than you can the U-lock.

Sounds like you found the lock you needed. The differences between this lock and the upper end models is that the higher end models have a thicker shackle and bottom bar, and that they lock on both sides of the shackle, as opposed to the bent foot design. This forces thieves to make two cuts to get the lock off in a lot of cases.
