I guess my "lifetime" Aegis warranty is now worthless.

I don't see where that link tells "the whole story" unless the whole story is just to shill the new company. What about the people that have Aegis bikes and where do they stand going forward? Post that link.

Thanks. I know the info is out there, objection I had was to the original post that was basically an outright shill IMHO. Something the Slowtwitch posts said "they'd never do"

Unbelievable how people like to make assumptions, no matter how baseless.

Let me set folk straight (first I had to look up "shill"!)

I have been monitoring traffic on our site argusbicycles.com and noticed traffic coming from this forum, and then found this thread. I have no idea who the original poster is, but there are currently only a handful of employees, and I'm the only one who really knows how to use the internet!!!!! The other folks are great at making bikes, but wouldn't know a forum from a floppy disk!

So....whoever posted the original post, I guarantee is not an Argus employee or affiliated in any way. The folks on Slowtwitch are correct, we would NOT go around faking posts. If I want to tell you about our company, I'll log on as myself and tell you about it. There are many better ways to market a product than to assume a fake name and make claims about a company (although I'm sure the original poster's intentions were good).

So, I would suggest that if anyone has any questions about our company, they ask, instead of making baseless assertions about us on forums. I'm more than happy to field any questions you have about the history of Argus, the connections to Aegis, and anything else I can do to help.

Sorry if it sounded like I have a negative tone. I don't want to come across that way, and I can see why someone might think that the original post was a "shill", but after working so hard on something to make sure it is done right and fairly and on the up-and-up, for someone to make accusations of shadiness as if they were statements of fact is ignorant and unfair.

So...that said...no hard feelings, but please consider that you are talking about decent people who value honor and integrity, not a bunch of guerilla marketing wannabes.

Now...what would folks like to know about Argus?

Sincerely,

Dan Madore

Dan.
Thanks for the clarification. I stand corrected. Would you like to address the issues already brought up?

Thanks CCrew. Ok, here it is.

Argus is NOT the same company as Aegis. Different owner, different facility. Aegis laid off all of its employees. Before starting Argus, we tried to acquire Aegis because there were talented folks out of work and we wanted to keep quality bikes being made here in the US in Maine. Unfortunately, a deal could not be reached for ownership of Aegis. To keep those folks working, we hired all of the laid off Aegis employees and started Argus at a new facility in the same town (yes, the gorgeous Aegis facility is now sitting unoccupied and gathering dust).

So, different company, same craftsmanship as Aegis.

Into the area of warranties, while we feel really bad for folks who bought Aegis frames and thought they were getting a lifetime warranty, it certainly would be bad business for us as a different company to honor another company's warranties. However, we do offer a very reasonable refurbishing price, and what we CAN offer is that if we refurbish your Aegis frame, it will be repaired and repainted by the same loving hands that used to build the Aegis frames.

Believe me, I can understand how disappointed Aegis owners must be, and I would hate to be in those shoes.

Does that answer some of the questions? Please let me know if there is anything else I can answer for you. You might also get more answers on our website at www.argusbicycles.com.

Happy riding!
