I had a mixed experience recently.
Last Saturday, I had a woman cyclist do a similar thing for me when I stopped for a break while riding a MUP.
She offset the later unpleasant experience of being forced off the MUP by a woman who was riding on the wrong side of the bike path abreast of a friend who was in the right lane. She was too busy chatting to be bothered to move into the proper lane, so she just forced me off the bike path, since the other lane was also occupied.
I hate to say it, but there are people who just need to shut the hell up when they're out riding and pay more attention to what is around them.
Which was again offset by a number of friendly riders I met further on.
