Best timeplace to buy a bike (in LA)?

Sometime in the foreseeable future I want to get a second bike (first being a Rockhopper 04 with slicks) for commuting. While I like the rockhopper, I must admit that I bought it while being quite bike ignorant (WHAT BIKES COST MORE THAN $100??!!!????) for the prupose.

I am now seeing a lot more pavement riding in my future so I figured I'd take it slow this time and really save up for a nice road bike.

So my question is, for those in the WEST LA/Santa Monica area, when/where are the best deals in bikes? I'm surmising there's an optimum time of the year when certain LBS gets rid of last year's models to make room for the new.

My contribution to this list of info, Helen's of Santa Monica has a major sale every July fourh.

I'm not in a hurry to bike anytime soon but I want to give myself time to prepare.

Well another "sale" of sorts is the fact that 2005 models are slowly trickling in for Specialized (Supergo) and Trek (Helen's) which should translate to lower prices for the 2004s. Would be interested in finding out when the other 2005 bike models traditionally come out and what kind of discounts can be expected from this.
