Topomax

Topomax (sp?) is an anti-migraine drug. One of the reported side effects is weight loss.

On the news it was just reported that this is a good thing (since everyone is so desperate for a solution to that problem.)

What about the drugs, Pushtableback, or, Biketowork?

Has anyone heard of Body Solutions? It claims to take off pounds while you sleep, all you have to do is take a tablespoon of this liquid and viola the extra fat just disappears!

Oh yeah they also suggest that, while taking their product, you shouldn't eat for 3 hours before bedtime.

Yeah, they advertise that stuff on the radio station I listen to all the time. The guy who does the commercials practically swears his life on the stuff. Interesting...

Never heard of Body Solutions myself, but I don't believe in any quick fixes. Ever read the covers on women's magazines while waiting in a check out line? There's one on every cover! If they all work so well, why are there so many fat people around? I put "Body Solutions" in a search engine and came up with this:http://www.bodysolutions.com/Home/default.asp

I think if people tried not eating for three hours before bed without the stuff, they'd see about the same results. That's the worst time to fill up, and for most it's usually junk food like ice cream or...chocolate milk.

How about a cycling jersy with
"Lose weight. Ask me how"

velocipedio 02-27-02 06:58 AM

LittleBigMan...

I take it you've never suffered from a migraine. Take my word for it: when you have a full-blown migraine, you can't move, let alone ride a bike. [In fact, breathing can be agionizing.] Any medication that relieves a migraine is just marvie from where I satand.

Truth is, you SHOULD eat something before going to bed [I prefer ryvita crackers with peanut butter]. Your body needs an energy source from somewhere, and a few crumbs is better than bonking in your sleep. [I've actually done that.]

why are so many americans fat?
couple of reasons: Fast food is a starter.
biggest reason for me? lack of excersize.
I can't believe that Phys-ed has been
eliminated from school.

People ALWAYS want a magic pill
they want the benefit without the
hard work (present company excluded).

If Topomax cures/stops migraines great,
if you lose weight as a side effect great.
No migraine but want to lose weight?
get up off you're duff and excersize and
stop feeding your face.....
rant off.....HEHE

There is a drug (can't remember it's name) that claims you can lose weight when you take it. It then lists horrible side effects, like uncontrolled bowel movements. Especially if you eat too much fat.

The commercials for it always made me wonder if you lost weight because the drug punished you for eating wrong. I thought maybe they were on to something..... :)

I've found a great way <tongue in cheek> to lose weight. It's called "get the flu so you dont feel like eating".
I've had the flu since Sunday and my clothes fit a little looser than they did last week. That's the only good part about this "diet". Feeling like $h!t is the bad part.
I'm afraid some of the weight that I've lost was muscle and I can't afford that!!

I'm sorry, the term "bonking" is lost on me.

Never take dietary advice from a moose

Yeah... love those water lillies...

"Bonking" means to go hypoglycemic. Your blood glucose level goes below 4.0 mmol/l and all sorts of nasty things happen -- uncontrollable shaking, sweats, nausea, that kind of thing. Below 1.5 mmol/l and you risk a coma...

Most people bonk when they exert themselves and don't replenish their bodies' energy supply with carbohydrates. Unfortunately, if you're really fit and eat a very controlled diet, but you forget to get enough carb in the evening, you can bonk by doing nothing else but run out of gas.

Waking up shaking, with sweats and nausea can be very diconcerting. :understatement smiley:

Two things:

I heard body solutions works. It works by increasing your metabolism. It radically raises your blood pressure too. I never met a fat person who also needed to raise his/her blood pressure.

I used to get migraines. Went to a lot of doctors – no permanent help. 25 years ago a ‘health nut’ told me the cause. I was having trouble assimilating calcium because of all the processed sugar I ate. He said to take no sugar in my diet for one month and see what happens. No more migraines – unless I cheat. I’ve convinced 2 other migraine sufferers to try a low sugar or sugar free plan, and it worked both times. But, it’s amazing how many people have headaches and will not try going without their sugar for even one week!
