Bicycle Junkyards/Scrapyards?

I've been looking for some cheap/free bicycles to fix, parts-rob and/or flip lately, to help with cash problems and gain some experience wrenching on as many bikes as possible.

Apart from the usual craigslist, thrift shops, and garage sales, there might be another way to find cheap/junked bikes to fix up- are there any scrap metal yards here in houston that have a good amount of bikes/bike parts at them? Or maybe automotive or motorcycle scrapyards that have bicycle stuff as well?

It would be great to resurrect some old bikes/parts and save them from going to the scrapper.

Also, any tips from fellow Houstonites on the best times/places to find "kerb bikes" (ie, bikes thrown in the trash)?

Thanks.

Can you go to your local tip and have a look? We've got a whole heap of bicycles and bicycle frames Rowan picked up from the ones around here.

Any colleges or universities around? Students will often not take their bikes after classes end. Find out what happens to them. You may have missed your opportunity for this year, but it wouldn't hurt to check.
