your favorite shorts?

i'm looking to get some new cycling shorts, but i can't decide which kind to get...
what is your favorite type of shorts/what do you think is the best type of shorts? (reg. padding, gel chamois, etc...)

oh, and hi, i'm new.

Shebeest, SSS (shorter for summer) and the Elite Distance Short (for cooler weather). They are expensive but my original SSS shorts lasted 4 yrs. before the chamois started to go (washed 2-3 x per week). I still wear them on shorter rides.

Paragon Sports had them about a month ago and Team Estrogen has them. Sometimes you can find them at REI, too.
