Do you listen to bicycle themed podcasts?
I listen to a number of podcasts, Resonance FM's Bike Show, Bikescape, the FredCast, the Spokesmen, and others, and was wondering if others listen as well? Resonance's Jack Thurston stated in a blog post that his Bike Show has about 1500 regular listeners gained strictly through word of mouth advertising. Perhaps I'm amazingly boring, well I know I'm amazingly boring, but that struck me as kind of low considering the entertainment value.

I don't listen to cycling related podcasts, and had never heard of these, but I'm going to give them a try. Thanks!

I never knew there was such a thing. Maybe that's why he has not-so-many listeners?

I listen to the Fredcast. It's ok. Too much fluff for me.

I know what a bicycle is. I can't say I what a podcast is, or how one goes about finding them. Is this something done with a computer?

Rex, podcasts are like radio shows that you download and listen to on your computer or ipod.
The two johns podcast is very entertaining, especially their reader feedback segment.

Thanks! That makes sense; "pod" being the major part of IPOD. Hey, I only learned to copy and paste about a year ago. Though I have been using computers at work since 1983 or so, it was a proprietary, custom-designed system. I have much to learn about mainstream computer systems and other e-devices. I had thought IPODs were just musical entertainment gadgets.

I'm always surprised to hear that many people have no idea about podcasts in general and cycling podcasts specifically. Lots of interesting stuff out there.
I've been listening to the Fredcast for about two years. Also listen to:
Two Johns Cycling Podcast
Bicycle Radio
Competitor Radio
T-Chatter (Terry Bicycles)
You'll find them all at Itunes and they all have their own websites with archives as well.

I only ever listened to one podcast. I was flying somewhere and downloaded a few "Wait Wait don't tell me" (copyright NPR) however after I noticed everyone staring at me because of my uncontrolable laughter I was embarrassed and turned it off.
just what is a cycling related podcast? john tesch whispering softly in your ear? bob roll yelling at you to pedal faster? or is it a 'loop' of that one racer from "american flyers" drning on about how you might be in front of him be he is actually ahead of you? *giggle*

The FredCast and the Two Johns Cycling podcast do a lot of racing news, interviews and such with a little bit of general stuff thrown in. I haven't listened to too much of Bicycle Radio but what I have heard was mostly about cycle cross. Bikescape is from San Francisco and the Bike Show is from London and both tend to focus on the more everyday aspects of bicycling to the esoteric; episodes can range from a story on bicycle politics in San Francisco to a walk through tour of the Brooks saddle shop in Birmingham, UK. Perhaps the best way to describe both podcasts is that they're about bicycling and bicycling culture. I'm toying with the idea of doing a similar podcast myself about bicycling in the D.C. area although it is doubtful I could do anything of that quality. T-Chatter is put out by Terry Cycles and provides a lot of information about training, fitness, and diet. I'm not familiar at all with Competitor Radio. Considering the quality of the programming (good to excellent) and the cost (free), I certainly recommend downloading a couple of different ones from iTunes or straight from their websites and giving them a listen. You might get hooked like I did.
