How many of BF.net's forums apply to you?

How many of BF.net's form subgroups apply to you? I just noticed that although I don't post in all of them, many of the forums here apply to the cycling I do.

In order as they appear in the forums list-

Northeast - I live in Laurel, MD

Bicycle Mechanics - I wrench on my own bikes and this forum has been quite helpful to me.

Clydesdale - At 6'3" and 250lbs I'm solidly a clyde.

Commuting -
Technically I'm unemployed but I'm also car free so anytime I go to the store or something I commute there by bicycle.

Hybrid Bicycles -
One of my bikes is a Raleigh Detour Deluxe, the Cadillac of hybrids.

Living Car Free - My wife has a car but I do not so I rock it car free.

Mountain Biking - I have a Felt Q720 in my stable. I'm not big into mountain biking but occasionally I do a little XC.

Recreation and Family - My wife and I like to go ride greenways and MUP's in the area so this forum certainly applies to me.

Singlespeed / Fixed Gear -
After studying the teachings of the late Sheldon Brown I took the plunge and picked up a fixed gear bike. Currently I run it freewheel as a townie but I like to argue and act immature so this forum si for me. :roflmao2:

Tandem Cycling - My wife and I got a used tandem for each other for x-mas this year. we have not gotten to use it a lot yet due to work and weather but it is a lot of fun!

Utility Cycling - Since I'm car free I often have to carry things by bike. I've designed and welded a couple of custom front racks and I own a WIKE large cargo trailer.

Winter Cycling -
Again, when you live car free you ride even when it's cold out.

General Cycling -
I posted this here didn't I?

stapfam 12-14-09 04:09 PM

Main one is the 50+ and then the General cycling

But I ride a Tandem- Road bike and mountain bike and I slip into each of these forums occasionally.

Great Lakes -- Indiana.
Advocacy & Safety -- I'm a little fierce about it.
Bicycle Mechanics -- I am one, and occasionally will find a thread that sparks enough interest to get me to pitch in.
Clydesdales/Athenas -- about 235 right now, but over 225 since about '92.
Commuting -- FANATICALLY!
50+ -- be 51 in the spring.
Living Car Free -- since about 2004.
Mountain Biking -- MTB's are my love!
Recreational & Family -- I have equally fanatic kids.
Singlespeed & Fixed Gear -- by spring break, I WILL BE.
Utility Cycling -- car-free, you gotta be!
Winter Cycling -- see above.
General Cycling Discussion -- anything that has to do with bikes, I'll read, and sometimes participate in.
Foo -- 'cause I'm a little 'off'....

I read mechanic, commuting, general, road, ssfg, winter, a&s, and sometimes classic and vintage.
I'll snoop around the framebuilding section sometimes out of curiosity.

Pacific Northwest - I live in Portland, OR

Bicycle Mechanics - I wrench on my own bikes also.

Cyclocross - Love me some cyclocross. Both the bikes and the sport.

Mountain Biking - I have an Orbea Lanza 29er that I don't spend enough time with....

Long Distance Cycling - While I don't do this nearly enough, I do love me some Brevets.

Road Cycling -
Typically this is my area of interest.

General Cycling - I posted here from time-to-time.

Triathlon - Signed up for my first Tri in May.

General: that too

Machka 12-15-09 12:14 AM

I usually/regularly post in 8 of them, although I will branch out now and then to others.

daven1986 12-15-09 04:24 AM

I use all of them, not that all of them apply to me. I just use the "new posts" button and read / reply to any that interest me.

Retro Grouch 12-15-09 09:15 AM

Bike mechanics - I like screwing with bikes. I'm not really fully up-to-date on 10 and 11 speed stuff but I'm pretty good with the bread and butter bikes the commoners ride.

50+ - I was one of the people who opposed the idea of 50+ when it was started. I was wrong. I enjoy all the off-topic stuff that doesn't fit on the other boards.

Road - I read more than I post.

FG&SS - This has turned out to be one of my favorites. FG has a hipster image, but a lot of the posts have to do with the bike as art or converting an unused bike to fixed gear. Those topics are actually pretty nerdy. They're also the topics that I identify with.

Tandem - Mrs. Grouch and I have 33 years of qualifications.

General - Well, here we are. It's kind of like 50+ for people who don't qualify.

JonnyHK 12-15-09 09:39 AM

Hmmmm

Road - most of what I do
SSFG - ride one to work. forum helped on my build
Living car free - true, but I don't go here!
Clydesdale - I'm not the smallest lad...
Foo - I'm a little silly at times
General - you know, for general stuff

Ok, maybe add in Electric (are those really bikes?) and Folding (I have a fear of being Arte Johnson)

RonH 12-15-09 05:50 PM

Since I'm a mod, I look thru and read the following regularly:
Introductions, Southeast Regional, Bicycle Mechanics, Commuting, Cyclocross, Fifty Plus, Recreational & Family, Training & Nutrition, and Winter Cycling.
Since I have a road bike and a CX bike I also hit General Cycling and occasionally Road Cycling.
When I'm tired of reading or talking about bikes, I'll try Foo, P&R, Jokes, and For Sale.
But since I'm a mod you may see me anywhere. :fight::notamused::innocent::popcorn:hug:

AdamDZ 12-15-09 06:44 PM

Right now I'm mainly interested in:
  • Advocacy & Safety
  • Bicycle Mechanics
  • Commuting (most of my riding this year)
  • Electronics, Lighting, & Gadgets
  • Winter Cycling
  • General Discussions
  • Regional: Northeast (I'm from NYC)

To a lesser degree:
  • Utility Cycling (as it overlaps with commuting a bit)

But since I rode road and MTB, did club rides, etc. in the past I started reading:
  • Long Distance Cycling
  • Mountain Biking (I'm mainly into XC, nothing too extreme)
  • Road Cycling (I want o build a RB and get back on the road in summer)
  • Touring (I enjoy reading touring stories, esp. with pictures!)

Grillparzer 12-15-09 10:31 PM

I usually just browse the new posts and respond to the ones that are interesting, but the forums that apply are:

Northeast - Also living in Laurel, MD, interestingly enough.
Advocacy & Safety
Touring - An idea I'm considering. There are places I want to go and the best way to see them will be on a bicycle.
Commuting -
Laurel is just far enough away from D.C. to necessitate a bicycle. Outside of rush hours and on weekends bus transportation to and from Laurel can be awkward and the Metro light rail is about six miles away.
Hybrid Bicycles -
Presently on my son's Bianchi Boardwalk, but have the goal of building up my Raleigh F500 frame in to a commuter/utility bike.
Living Car Free - I have promised myself that if I go car free for three years at the end I will reward myself with a Rivendell Sam Hillborne.
Mountain Biking
50+- Pushing fifty was less hard then dragging it behind me.
Long Distance Cycling
Utility Cycling
Winter Cycling - Maryland weather has proven remarkably indifferent to my present car less life style.
General Cycling
