i want to trade my brand new hybrid....
for someone else's vintage steel road bike.
i just thought of this, and i'm kind of psyched.
i was new to road biking, so i bought a nice hybrid for about $800. i put about 200 miles on it, and wanted more. so i put it in storage, and bought a carbon road bike and a steel fixed gear.
now that i've owned an alu MTB, alu hybrid, cf road, and steel fixie....i really want to try a lugged-steel road bike.
so i'm thinking, rather than sell it, i'll just trade it.
what could go wrong?

i think you should just ride
as far as i am concerned i don't think you have to spent more than three hundred on a decent bike from the lbs.
all bikes are bascially the same from my experience.

what kind of bike, where are you located, and what frame size? My bro has a lugged steel racing bike circa 198x that is in really nice shape...

I do have the receipt.
I'd also be open to a non-vintage steel roadie.
I'd have to see the bike, check it out, and make sure it's of sufficient value for the trade. there are so many lugged steel bike manufacturers out there, I'd be looking to get a trade that's fair. otherwise I could just sell it.

It's a schwinn something, not sure of the specs... I'd have to check with him and see if it's something he would even be interested in. I'm not sure what you consider vintage if not something that is > 20 years old?

goal is to get a nice lugged steel bike as a geared roadie, so the year isn't super important so long as the quality and the looks are there, and it's in good condition.

here's a pic of my bike.
picture: https://farm3.static.flickr.com/2767/...aac19129_b.jpg
Note, pedals have been upgraded since that pic was taken.
i did a check around; seems like only boutique shops are doing lugged steel frames now, and all the big manufacturers are doing alu --> carbon. that's a shame. i saw a few eddy merckx, masi, cinelli, and ciocc frames that look nice. i just can't justify buying one while is till have the hybrid
I posted a craigslist ad for the trade...i doubt i'll get any good offers.
anyone know anybody who might be interesteD?
