Which one would you choose? Give me some advice please!

OK next week I'm (financially) ready to pick up a new bike. The choice comes down to a 2008 Cannondale Synapse Feminine 4 for 799 CAD or a 2010 Giant Avail 2 for 1269 CAD.
Both have same quality, tiagra components. What would you choose, is there a difference or something important that i might have overlooked?
I really like to looks of the white bike (Giant) but for $ 500 difference I would get the same/similar bike as the Cannondale? PLease give me your advice! Highly appreciated!

Have you taken both for a test ride? Buy the one that feels good and fits you best.

Do you know about the women's forum? There is a thread on women's specific bikes in there. Send a PM to Siu Blue Wind (administrator) to get access.

Did not know about this women's forum? Where is it listed? I will send an email to the administrator. BTW, both bikes feel good, I tested them both. Honestly I feel that i get a bit more bike with the Giant...sooo difficult. Thanks CbadRider!

Update: I already PM'd and got an answer back, wow fast! Thanks

It is ninja. It will not reveal itself until you are deemed worthy to learn the secrets...

Back on topic- You like both bikes. Very similar in spec's/set-up? Only difference is color and price?

If it's going to be out and back kinda rides, with very minimal time away from it, get either one. If it's more errand running and locking up when/where ever, get the not so shiny cheaper one. Thieves like shiny bikes.

If everything else is equal then Giant has a pretty good warrantee and they make their own bikes. Cannondale is having some trouble and has been sold andis moving most of its manufacturing out of house. If one rides better for you that is a different matter but I think Giant might be my choice between the two. IMHO

Couldn't find that specific model C'dale. 2008? Is the frame alloy or carbon?.

I own a full carbon SuperSix and a Defy 1(pretty much the male versions of the bikes you're looking at) and the real question is what you're looking to do with it. A performance/racing machine,or a daily rider? The Cannondale would make a better racer;it would definitely be worth upgrading the components to higher levels and competing on it. Plus they're not making all the models in the US amymore, which may allow it to hold mroe value(I would not worry about warranty issues with Cannondale BTW). But the Giant will take wider tires(by road bike standards),a rear rack, and even full coverage fenders if you do a little MacGuyvering. So if they both fit you,I'd choose the one that's right for how you're going to use it.

    C'dale BBU('05 and '09)/Super Six/Hooligan8and 3,Kona Dew Deluxe,Novara Buzz/Safari,Surly Big Dummy,Marin Pt Reyes,Giant Defy 1,Schwinn DBX SuperSport/Qualifier,Dahon Speed Pro TT,Brompton S6L

Think it will boil down to the test ride providing the two bikes are of similar spec.

I am saying that even though I am a Giant fan. My own personal opinions of Cannondale is that they make some very good bikes- but they can give a harsh ride to some.

My heart though does say that if they ride the same- have the same spec- the "Dale" is so much cheaper- then get the "Dale"
How long was I in the army? Five foot seven.

Most what I am going to do is, first a two day ride from Vancouver to Seattle (270 km) for the BC Cancer Foundation. I do like those long distance rides, club rides. So it defnitely needs to be comfortable and fast to keep up. Not into racing (yet?) but maybe I would want to try someday but not sure for now. For club rides I would need fenders and that is possible for either the Giant or Cannondale.
I tested like 5 bikes but it just comes down to these two and its sooooo difficult. BTW, the bike store owner said its a 2008 but looking up on internet I found this model was a 2006. Not sure if that is an important issue. Its a brand new bike.
    Thanks for your reply!
