Unusual lighting
I was driving into the Portland VA hospital parking garage a few weeks ago. At the same time there was a cyclist coming out the other doorway.
This guy had some form of lighting on his bike that I have never seen before. It was about the same color as a glow stick but was long enough to wrap in a spiral around both main and rear frame triangles. In spite of the color I have the impression that it wasn't glow sticks but something electrical. Whatever it was it certainly made this bike highly visible. Any driver who hit this guy could never claim that he didn't see the bicycle. Has anyone seen anything like this? Who makes it, who sells it? |

Thanks GriddleCakes. That was just what the guy had.
REI's price is $25. For a winter commuter its well worth it. |
Yeah, I've seen a few of 'em riding around town after they were mentioned in the yearly winter biking article in the local paper. I already had the (expensive, heavier, and potentially distracting) Monkeylectric lights mounted, so I'm already as visible as I'm going to be from the side. But I feel better knowing that the Lady G'Cakes has decent side lighting as well.
