2006 Kona Sutra
 

My LBS has a couple of these in stock. Never been sold. I've always thought the Sutra was a touring bike, but bikepedia classifies it as cyclocross. And the shop is currently asking $999. Think I should make an offer that is lower than that to take the one that is my size off his hands? Or just swallow the price as is? Mind you, the front rack has been removed and it's got brifters, not bar-cons.

Not a cross bike for sure. Looks like a touring setup. The $999 price seems a little high. Make an offer and see what they say.

I had an '06 Sutra. It is a touring bike and they didn't come with racks back then. They were also higher spec than the current ones(105 brifters/front der,WTB wheelset). Yeah,it's 4 yrs old,but brand new with those specs I think a grand is a fair price.

I would first be sure it was a good fit for you-and then make an offer. After having the bike sitting around for 4 years, it would seem that they would be motivated to sell it and make room for other stock.

By way of reference: an LBS near me just had a leftover 2009 Kona whose msrp was comparable to this, and the sale price was $899.
