NYC Century Ride --Sept 12

I know there is a thread started on this in the Single Fixed Gear forum, but since many on this board don't go there, I thought I'd post this here.

Anyone here planning on doing this ride? I'm signed up for the 35 mile section, and very proud of it. This will be a milestone for me ( a 35 mile stone) cause I've never rode this far before. Next year, I'm planning on doing the whole 100. (after I buy a new bike!)

(If the moderator sees fit to delete this post, due to there being another of the same thing in the Single Fixed Gear forum, feel free to delete.)

Have a good day, everyone.

i'm actaully surprised there aren't a whole bunch of duplicate threads like this one - the NYC century ride is one of the biggest in the country and there should be many people from this board going.

i signed up for the full 100 miles. my only fear is that my knee won't hold out. hopefully i'll be able to finish. part of the ride goes right by my gf's apartment - i'm thinking of stopping in for a beverage or something along the way

It's a fun ride, I did the NYC century (all of it) in 1997. It was fun riding on all the bridges in NYC. Have fun!

Cheater
A friend of mine is going fully solo and unsupported. Big breakfast and good hydration then 100 miles on nothing but a t-shirt and pair of jeans.

I'm going to do the 35-mile course. It's a milestone for me, too (the most I've ever ridden was about 30, broken up over the day). I also hope I'll be able to do at least the 55 or 75 by next year, if not the full century. Good luck and good riding to everyone else who'll be there this Sunday!

Do I HAVE to register or can I just slide in? It's not a closed course like the 5 boroughs ride right?

Good question. From the pics i've seen, they dont have any stickers or paper attached to their clothes or bike so if you do join, i dont think they would notice. Dont get me wrong, im all for donating to a good cause but money is kind of tight lately and I perfer to ride for free.

edit: wait nevermind. just saw this pic and it seems like they have a patch on their jerseys

Money is pretty tight for me too. Especially registering on site for $65. I wonder who'll notice though, I mean they're on public streets.
