Substitute dubbin for proofide on a Brooks saddle?
Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone has compared the two? I just got a band new Brooks and want to weather proof/start breaking in. I'm really not trying to be a penny pincher, I'm willing to spring for the proofide. The thing is I work In a leather workshop and have dubbin on hand, we even sell the stuff, so if it works the same........ Dubbin is goose fat mainly and proofide is just some veg oil animal fat and beeswax, does this combo really make a difference? The main thing is treating it right, I can't see dubbin making it too soft, but still I'd like the opinion of someone who had done it. Cheers.
