My wife just got a Globe Carmel 3 (last year's model, seems to be equivalent to the current Carmel 7) for about $450 locally, and so far she's loving it. I tried to get her to look at what I think of as more "traditional" styles, but she always used to hate riding because of severe wrist pain, and she reports no discomfort at all with this model. We do keep turning up the tension on the sproingy fork and seatpost, though.
