Tube Sizes?
My bike's tubes say:
27 x 1 1/8 x 1 1/4 28/47-622/635 27/28 x 1 1/8 - 1.75 What do these numbers mean? I need new tubes for my bike. The tire size is 27 x 1 1/4 if that helps. Thank you! |
Those are the various sizes that the tube will fit; tubes will fit a range of tire sizes.
Your tire size is 27x 1 1/4 and that size is listed as one that the tube will fit. Any tube that you find with some or all of those sizes listed should work in your tire. |
Also as Jan said, the tubes will fit a range of sizes. Most wheels are metric now. So the wheels are 700C but a 700C and a 27" wheel are pretty near the same size. The first number on the tube is the wheel size. So a 27 will work with a 700C that second number is the size of the tire but in this one it is in inches. In metric 1 1/4 = about 28 mm.

Thanks all. Will 26" fit?
|
26" will probably not fit.
Also, if you pick up a 700c tube for your tire, make sure the valve is the correct type. (Most 27" rims have holes for Schrader valves while most 700c rims are drilled for Presta valves.) |

You should have little trouble finding the size you need at a bike shop or Wal-Mart, etc. (or on the internets) |
I see. So "Tubes 27 x 1 1/8 to 1 3/8 Inch Schrader Valve" would fit right?
|
Yes, if you have a Schrader-sized hole in your rim. (You likely do.)
