Tube Sizes?

My bike's tubes say:

27 x 1 1/8 x 1 1/4
28/47-622/635
27/28 x 1 1/8 - 1.75

What do these numbers mean? I need new tubes for my bike.

The tire size is 27 x 1 1/4 if that helps. Thank you!

Those are the various sizes that the tube will fit; tubes will fit a range of tire sizes.
Your tire size is 27x 1 1/4 and that size is listed as one that the tube will fit.
Any tube that you find with some or all of those sizes listed should work in your tire.

Also as Jan said, the tubes will fit a range of sizes. Most wheels are metric now. So the wheels are 700C but a 700C and a 27" wheel are pretty near the same size. The first number on the tube is the wheel size. So a 27 will work with a 700C that second number is the size of the tire but in this one it is in inches. In metric 1 1/4 = about 28 mm.

Thanks all. Will 26" fit?

MMACH 5 05-13-10 12:59 PM

26" will probably not fit.

Also, if you pick up a 700c tube for your tire, make sure the valve is the correct type. (Most 27" rims have holes for Schrader valves while most 700c rims are drilled for Presta valves.)

Probably not. 26"/559 is more or less the next wheel/tire size down from 27"/622/700c.

You should have little trouble finding the size you need at a bike shop or Wal-Mart, etc. (or on the internets)

I see. So "Tubes 27 x 1 1/8 to 1 3/8 Inch Schrader Valve" would fit right?

JanMM 05-13-10 03:48 PM

Yes, if you have a Schrader-sized hole in your rim. (You likely do.)

If your current tube is Schrader. (Car Type) If the is a little thin bit you unscrew before you inlflate it, you need Presta as MMACH 5 said.
