Bicyclist discovers body on dirt road

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A bicyclist made a gruesome discovery in northeast Houston.

Around 8:30pm Saturday, a man was riding his bike on the feeder road of the new Highway 90 near the South Lake Houston Parkway.

He went down an abandoned dirt road off the highway and noticed a set of feet. Immediately the bicyclist took action.

"He felt that it was a body. It was getting kind of dark," Houston Police Department Homicide Department Sgt. W. Meeler said. "He rode to a gas station where he called police and led patrol units back to this location."

The man had been shot and from the looks of it authorities believe the shooting happened on the abandoned road.

Right now, investigators don't know who the victim is or why he was killed.

If it had been me, somehow, I would have become the prime suspect.

That's why you never touch the body. Rifle through the wallet sure, but never touch the body.
