Tell me what you think!

So I want to sell one of my bikes.

It's a Rockey Mountain RC30 2006 model.

It's still in great shape. Now brand new it was listed at like 750 or something. I bought it for around 550 in 07.

It is a flat bar road bike, it came with Sora Shifting equipment and the like.

I made some major modifications to it:

I changed the flatbars to Profile Design Bullhorns, replaced the shifters with Ultegra Bar End Shifters, put Paul Component Cross levers on there (the ones that can do short or long pull), replaced the rear derailluer with an Ultegra derailluer. Dimension Stem.

It's a 21 speed.

So it has some nice components on there.

The reason I am getting rid of it is because the the frame is a 54cm, and I am more of a 52 or 50cm frame size. And I got a different bike, that is more my size that has been fantastic to ride, and I never ride this one anymore.

It's a nice bike, and with the components, I was wondering if 750 is an OK craiglist price? I figure I'll haggle as low as 600.

Thoughts?

id at least mark it down a little bit. Few people are going to be willing to pay MSRP for a used bike, even with upgrades.

OTOH, it might be worth you while to list it there and see what happens. You never know... I'd say it depends on how badly you want/need to sell.

Somebody dangles $450 cash in front of your nose, take it and run.

Your upgrades don't offset 4 years of depreciation.

Hrmm, Well I suppose I'll leave it till it scrolls off the page, and If I don't get any takers, I can re-list for 600, and if that doesn't fly, then relist for 500 and so on.

I'm in no hurry, and it's a pretty oddball setup, so it's gonna have to be someone looking for a bike like this to get the 750 I asked, I suspect that people will talk me down. That's the craigs list way, so I figure List higher than what you think you'll get for it, and negotiate down.

I would just get a smaller frame and move all my components and upgrades. That way, I have a bike set up the way I want, and don't have to re-purchase everything to do it.

:)ensen.

Few people want to buy a Frankenbike. I was able to sell one at a good price over 8 years ago when ebay was still relatively fresh. Not anymore.

I think you'd be lucky to get $300 out of that.

I got 250 bucks for an 07 Giant Sedona DX that was stock condition just a couple weeks ago. I should be able to get a little more than 300 for this one. 750 is obviously high, maybe wishful thinking, but I'd think 500 is a reasonable goal.

buy a frame (Nashbar sells cheap frames) and swap those components. you like that bike, but not many other people are going to (I have a frankenbike too, I love it, but everybody else thinks it's strange). that way, you still have another bike, you can't go wrong with that!

Hrmm, you know, that's not a bad Idea... though it's not too franken bike:

but as you can see, I have the seat too low since I am a shorty.
