Renting a Bike in Portsmouth, UK

Hi,

I'm going to be in Portsmouth, UK, soon for work. Seeing that some of you are from there or close I thought about asking some questions here. I would like to rent a bike. I was looking for a mountain bike not too old, maybe with front suspension and pedal clips. Does such a thing exists for renting and for approximately how much? Do you have any shop names? Also, is there any good trails there? Or should I rent a road bike?

Thanks for any tips you can give me,
Hugues

Hello there, afraid i don't know anywhere you can rent a bike but just thought i'd say hi as i live in Portsmouth! where abouts are you gonna be working?

As far as riding goes, for road riding it's great if you get out of portsmouth first which means you need time either side for travelling, the Isle of Wight is amazing for raod riding, loads of long quiet roads - very scenic too, if you choose to do a lap of the whole thing it's approximately 100miles but you do have to get there first. The new forest is a paradise for roadies and cross-country style mountain biking not massively hilly but great terrain. Around Petersfield is good too, if you go to Queen Elizabeth Country Park they have some awesome bike trails for mountain biking i've never had the bottle to try them but i know loads of people that love it there. Loads of country roads around their good for a road style cruise.

I'll be working in Havant, but I'll be renting a small apartment in Emsworth

Thanks for all the tips!
