Marco Pantani has a new co-sponsor...

to beat the hated American Lance Armstrong in this years Tour.

http://www.geocities.com/eschelon_on...cosponsor.html

Just in case you are not aware, those are pictures of red blood cells on his shorts.

I don't know about you guys, but I think El' Marco is going to kick some American tale at this year's Tour!

I re-pasted the link. This link should work now.

cant get the link to work. Pantani will need more drugs in him than there is on the Snoop Dogg tour to beat armstrong.

I think "el marco" is going to abandon, just like he's done
in every major last year.....
He does talk a good game tho.

Well i don’t want to completely bag on Marco. I would really like to see him do well but it's seems like he has been doing more talking than performing for a while. If he'd just ride and shut up he would get back in to the good graces of most of the fans. IMO

I'm mostly a roadie, just getting back into it after too long
off the bike. Just toodling around for now.
maybe do some club stuff next season.
Next organized I'm doing is Ride 4 Roses, dropping milage
back cause wife said she wants to do it too, probably do
40 miler. Thinking about hotter n Hell in Aug (I mean hey, why
not subject myself to that much abuse, right?).

Man, all the hate towards Lance makes me like him even more. People talk about him like he's not a real cyclist, like he is some poser out there doing his thing. Why does everybody hate him huh? Tell me? It is a classic story, everybody always hates the hard worker. Yeah he only races in the Tour De France, but so what? He doesn't just race in it, he dominates it. "The Hated Lance Armstrong", What a croc of SPAM. I hate that horse poo. Props to Lance, and props to posers.

Fubar,

Don't worry about it, Lance's record will speak for itself.
I don't think everyone loved Merckx when he rode.

Fubar...don't take that phrase "hated..." too seriously. I meant nothing by it. This link of Marco and the everything else was a big exaggerated farce of the whole Marco talking trash about Armstrong thing.

Armstrong is the sole reason cycling is anything in the US. He's the sole reason why I began riding my road bike and enjoying it.

Oh sorry. I guess I flew off the handle.

His record does speak for itself -- he's a damned fine Tour de France rider. He's no Merckx [or Coppi, or Anquetil or... you get the picture], of course. He does one race very well, but only that race.

I have immense respect for Armstrong. He's a supremely talented athlete. But I would be disappointed if he won this year's Tour de France. I'd like to see some drama this time around...

Is this a generational memory lapse thing? Or perhaps a typical modern day short attention span thing maybe? Has anyone ever heard of Greg Lemond?

Armstrong is a great human interest story. And he clearly has immense talent, even if he only shows it sparingly (perhaps because of his medical situation?) throughout the international season. What I am having trouble figuring out is the seemingly almost violent polarization between the people who like him and those who don't. [N.B. The mild characterization was intentional.]

He did the thing with New York and the firemen. He campaigns against cancer and has the foundation. Etc. But there is an increasing number of riders who compete against him, and with him, who are trashing him as a "human being".

I guess you probably just have to consider the source: Pantani, Simoni, and the teammate who just left USPS. Next thing you know, he will be called "One Trick Lance".

Oh yes - PROCRIT: The (legal?) substitute for all the other stuff he used to use.

Cheers...Gary

I'd like to see Lance win the TdF AND have some drama too.

I was disappointed to see him quoted in PrCycling saying if he didn't win TdF he would chuck cycling in bceause he can't stand losing.

Its probably just an early season soundbite for the press tho'

That's hysterical. Surely a doctored, er, pardon the pun, picture.

He's looking a little heavy in that picture, but with his new co-sponsor, he may be a factor again this year!
