LBS vs. Online

A bike i am thinking about costs $120 less (20%) at citygrounds . com

I can put it together, so that isn't an issue.

My questions: Do online dealers ever swap lesser quality parts onto the bike to bring the cost down? Anything else I need to be aware of?

I'd prefer to buy from a family-run LBS, but saving $$$ is a big consideration.

Does the online supplier true the wheels, adjust the deraileur, provide a free tune up, etc? Most LBSs do, and those services have value.

I'll buy things like components, tools, tires, if necessary, but bikes themselves I've learned that it's best to check them out in person at the LBS before you spend your money, not after you've made the purchase, and assembled an online bike at home.

I would buy from the LBS, you might talk with them about the other prices you have found and see if they can come closer.

those are all great points. I was leaning towards the LBS anyway, just wanted to be sure about it. spending money is painful for me, s it helps to see the overall value of the LBS when deciding

thanks

maybe you should see a therapist about money being painful to spend for you, since that is the purpose of money.

I got no issue spending money, if I can get what I want. A lot of times the LBS doesn't have or they can't get the things I want/need.
