If you kill someone for drunk driving, it' automatic 10 years or less. Sad but that's all he will probably get. If they close the site down, I hope someone makes a book out of all that information because that's basically what Ken left behind.

I would still like to know what happened to this loser. He must have gone to court by now?

I have no update on the murderer, but would love to hear the current status, anyone want to give the Municipal Cour of Scottsboro City a ring?

I have no problem hosting the site for as long as possible, if anyone wants to send a few bucks to re-new the domain name for another year, that would be cool. I have also put the site on CD, and sent it to both of Kens children as well as Riin Gill, the lady who helped me archive the site, and get control of the domain.

How much does it cost to renew the domain name anyway? If you don't mind us asking...

Most domain names can be renewed for $15-20/year.

its the hosting that can get expensive, especially if there is a lot of traffic.

Ken gets ALOT of traffic, ~75 gig a month, and his site is 99% text! The domain only cost $12.95 a year. Hosting is free, I already pay for the server each month, and I have 1,000 gig avalible to me, right now, with the kenkifer site and this one, I use just under 180 gig a month.

Every time I go to Kens site I think about what he has done for cycling over the years and how much I hate scrolling down to see his mileage end in the Summer of 2003.
I think it's about time for us cyclist to do are best and find out what happened to his murder Named Jimmy Don Rodgers ! I've been all over the web searching.

So does anybody from Scottsboro city? Have any Info?

So does anybody from Scottsboro city,AL? Have any Info? We must have somebody on the forums that lives close by.

Somebody has got to know something!

If you don't have a link to a news report just pass along what you know.

I sent an eamil to the original author of the Daily Sentinel article:

photo@thedailysentinel.com

Is it possible to get an update on what happened to the killer of bicyclist Ken Keifer, a man by the name of Jimmie D. Rogers.
*
Please see:
*
http://www.thedailysentinel.com/story.lasso?wcd=167
*
We have a group of over 10,000 bicyclists (www.bikeforums.net) who are extremely interested.
*
Thank you so much!

I wrote the e-mail to all of these addresses. Today is exactly one year after Ken's death and they may well write a long article about Ken Kifer.

Well, I just sent one more I'm hoping to pull on a couple of heart strings of the Lifestyles Editor Lora Hass.

I hope she can relate to the type of lifestyle Ken left behind and how much it means to all of us.

This is the answer I got from the person, who maintains Ken' site:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi .... I think the trial is still pending. These things move very
slowly. But I can tell you that Ken's ashes were buried next to his
father. His son did consider sprinkling his ashes in the woods that he
loved, but Ken had requested to be buried next to his father a few years
earlier when his father had died, so he honored that request. He was
buried with his copy of Walden and one of his cycling shirts.

Thank you for the compliment.

Riin Gill, one of kens best friends, maintains the site. She did 99% of the work to keep the site online, I simply offered hosting and HTML help when she needed it.

Her site: http://www-personal.umich.edu/~riin/ken.htm (Includes a great picture of Ken, I hope she dosent mind the publicity!)

I was going to say, the last that I had read was back in December...

"according to Kirk Perry in the Jackson County District Attorney's Office... The defendant is still in the County Jail. The DA's office is still waiting to get back all their forensic evidence from the State crime lab and when that occurs they will be taking this to a Grand Jury. If and when he's indicted by the GJ, it will go to Circuit Court. Kirk did not think that would occur until at least early next year."
